Gobblerfest 2009 Schedule

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.-- SET UP 
All registrants should check in at the Gobblerfest headquarters in front of Squires Student Center for table assignments.

2 p.m. to 7 p.m. – GOBBLERFEST!
Games, food, and prizes, as well as a business showcase, VT-Engage volunteer fair, student organization showcase, VT departments, and special deals with the Downtown Merchants of Blacksburg.

  • Theatre Arts Improv
    • Front steps of Theatre 101, Performing Arts Building
    • 2:30 to 7 p.m., every hour on the half hour
    • Comedia— Renaissance Italian form of theatre using masks and audience participation.  
    • Biomechanic Workshop -- antirealistic system of dramatic production developed in the Soviet Union in the early 1920s, drawing on the commedia dell'arte and kabuki, which emphasizes pantomime rather than words.
  • Acoustic Stage Lineup:
    • Porch of Graduate Life Center
    • 2 – 2:45 p.m.: Tommy Edward’s Band
    • 3– 4 p.m.: Free Range Possums
    • 4:15 – 5p.m.: Kat Mills
  • Silent Auction
    • Squires entrance
    • To benefit the newly established Community Initiatives fund, a joint endeavor of University Unions & Student Activities and the Town of Blacksburg.  Items to be auctioned include:
    • A 19 inch flat screen TV donated by Best Buy
    • 2 tickets to Grahamfest music festival, valued at $50
    • A variety of jewelry donated by Henebry's Jewelers
    • Gift certificates from local merchants
    • And much more
    • The Silent Auction will begin at 2:30 p.m. and winners are to pick up their items at 7 p.m.

5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - CLASS OF 2011 KICK-OFF CONCERT AND PEP RALLY - MAIN STAGE, Commonwealth Ballroom of Squires Student Center

  • 5 p.m. - Pete Francis (of Dispatch)
  • 6 p.m. - Welcome spirit rally with the Student Alumni Association and Class of 2011
  • 6:30 p.m. - SOJA
  • Giveaways from Class of 2011 though out!
  • Lighting of the Graduate Life Center – Grad School windows will be lit at 5 p.m., with resident lights on from 8:30 to midnight. 

8 p.m. to 12 midnight – *FREE ACTIVITIES INSIDE SQUIRES STUDENT CENTER - RAIN OR SHINE!

  • Acoustic Stage: Squires Food Court
    • 8:00-8:45: Acoustic Blues Styling- SURRENDER DOROTHY
    • 9:00 – 9:45: Spoken Word with Bakar O. Bey  and Moises Seraphin from EXPRESSIONS
  • 9:00 - Movie: "Up" Colonial Hall
  • 10pm-2am: NPHC DJ Party: Old Dominion Ballroom
    (* $5.00 a person)
  • BreakZONE open until 1am
  • 10:00pm: Comedian Dan Ahdoot: Commonwealth Ballroom. Opening act: The Whirlay Bird by Aimee Kanode featuring the Hokie Camp Counselors.
  • 12 midnight to 1:30am: Midnight Pancake Breakfast w/ Celebrity Servers (Coach Seth Greenberg, VT Women's basketball coach Beth Dunkenberger, the HokieBird, and the Residence Hall Federation), generously sponsored by Champs Restaurant and Sports Bar: Commonwealth Ballroom
